Day 75. Marargaret River to Perth

Lasting friendships

A somber morning this morning, we have to part ways with our great new friends, but exciting as well as we will be seeing some old friends again later today. We tried to get out early, but you know how these things go. We were finally on the road by 8am, when we were hoping to be halfway to Bunbury by then.

Today we were off to the Bunbury Dolphin Discovery Centre. There you can wade into the water waist deep, depending on if the wild dolphins even turn up, and feed and interact with them. There is also some aquariums filled with tropical fish, octopus and sea horses. The kids had the best time with the touch pool, learning all about the starfish and other sea creatures.

We hung around about 3 hours waiting for the allusive dolphins to make an appearance. And much to the kids disappointment they didn't show. We did however had a great time in the discovery centre and grounds, that also had a great pirate ship playground. They walked the beach collecting shells, watched a movie on dolphins and whales, tried all the interactive gadgets, and coloured in pictures.

Even though the guests of honour didn't come in for a feed, we all had a very relaxing morning where the kids learnt heaps.

After lunch we had to say goodbye to our great new friends and head to Perth. We are dropping the van off, and staying a night with my very good, and very missed, old friend Robyn. She her husband Marty and girls Sophie and Isabelle moved over here a few years ago as Marty is in the Navy. Robyn and I were very close when I lived in Sydney, we went through our first pregnancy's together. She made me dinner the night I went into labour!

It was so great to see her and her family, she hasn't changed a bit. A huge surprise was also in store for me, Robyn had invited over my old flat mate Dave, who I lived with in Sydney for dinner. Our reunion was memorable, it is so hard to believe when you are all so close you will ever lose touch like we did. What a great night, it was one I will remember for a very long time.
