Day 251. Cairns

Happy Birthday Scarlett!

Today our beautiful daughter turned 6 years old! Scarlett woke at just after 6am to find a number of presents piled up on the end of her bed, and her first words were; "Am I six now?"

Her eyes lit up when she realised that this wasn't a dream, and that she had finally turned six! She was so proud! She then started to open her birthday cards and presents, and it was like all her Christmas's had come at once! She was very excited!

Pool Party!

She had Barbie dolls and Barbie cars, as well as a large number of 'Littlest Pet Shop' sparkle pets and a 'Rescue Centre' to play with. She also got this amazing little IPOD docking station where a 'Littlest Pet Shop Dog' lights up and dances to the music when played. She certainly is a spoilt little Princess; as she also got IPOD credit, a bubble making set, umbrella, and cash to spend on herself!

She is a very lucky girl!

After breakfast, we moved up to the pool area and had a pool party, where Scarlett invited all the kids here at the caravan park to join her in celebrating her birthday. There must of been at least 20 kids who turned up; all eager to eat lollies and cake. Bec even went to the trouble of making up party bags; which went quicker than Cathy Freeman at the Sydney Olympics! When the cake came out, everyone joined in and sang 'Happy Birthday'; much to Scarlett's delight. We then spent the rest of the morning playing and swimming in the pool.

As it was Scarlett's day, she had a 'Happy Meal' for lunch (her choice), and played games back at the van. She ended up watching a couple of her new DVD's during the heat of the afternoon, and then she and Nana enjoyed making and playing with the bubbles she got as a birthday present!

During the course of the day, she received a number of phone calls from family and friends wishing her a "Happy Birthday" that were greatly appreciated. She absolutely loved having her Nana and Grumpy here to share her special day - which made the day all that more special!

The day finished with us experiencing our first tropical storm; complete with rolling thunder, lightning and heavy rain!

All in all it was a great day had by all - especially the birthday girl!

Thank you everyone for all your warm wishes and love - it was great to have so many people thinking of Scarlett on her birthday (especially since we are away from you all).


Remind me to never ever give that man another beer!
