Day 146. Kooljaman (Cape Leveque) to Broome

Goodbye Cape Leveque

I was up at 6:30am this morning! It must be the relaxing evenings reading and earlier off to bed. We were all up and out packing up by 7am, while I was scrounging around through the last of the food to make up a breakfast; saladas and peanut butter seemed to be the flavour of the day!

We said our goodbyes to Tahlia and her grandmother (the little girl Scarlett befriended) and by 8am we were on the road. We were lucky this time as the road out had just been graded, so we made it back in good time. We moved the caravan back out of storage and onto our site, and I got straight into the washing. With sheets, towels and clothes all up I had 5 x full loads. Everything was covered in red dirt, and at $4 a load it was a costly task.

After the washing was all out, I needed to go to the shops and get some food. The caravan was literally bare, I had let all the food get used up before we left in case something happened to the fridge while on gas when were gone. $550 later, we were fully stocked up again, and ready for our next big leg.

When I returned from the shopping, Shane had already brought the washing in, (it dries out in record time here) and he was already remaking all the beds. We had a huge day getting back on track, so this evening we decided to take Scarlett to 'Sun Pictures'; Broome's famous open air cinema, to see 'Cars 2'.

We met Martin, Nikki and Scarlet again, and we all got a big feed of fish and chips to take into the movies. Scarlett had a huge serving of calamari and chips, while Shane and I enjoyed some fantastic fish. We had the popcorn, lollies, drinks and sour worms (Scarlett's fav) all ready to go when the movie started, but the sound didn't. We were all really disappointed to find out there was a technical problem with the sound, and the movie had to be cancelled. We promised the two very distraught little girls we would try again tomorrow night, so we got our money back and left.

The speedway is on next door this evening to the caravan park. It is so loud, that all caravan park patrons get in for half price, this is to entice them in so they don't get upset with the noise. We were all so tired from our bid day, Scarlett fell straight asleep as Shane and I tried to start catching up on the blog.
Tomorrow is our last day in Broome....
