Day 139. Broome

Down at Broome markets...

This morning Bec had us all slip and out the door very early, as she wanted to 'experience' the Broome markets.

The kids playing with a 'street performer'
We found the markets opposite the Broome courthouse grounds, and we were soon exploring and 'experiencing' the best of what Broome had to offer. There was hand made jewellery, craft, clothing, and food stalls galore. I'd like to say we walked away without spending money, but that would be a lie. Before we left, we had spent almost $2000 on a half day trip to the horizontal waterfalls - out of Derby (for when we are there in just over a weeks time). Due to how popular this tour is, we discovered that it's booking out very quickly - so we had to book and pay now up front to get on board, as this is something we really want to do!

After the markets we headed back into China Town where we found the Broome Bead Shop. We let Scarlett design her very own necklace and we put in together in the shop. She absolutely loves it and we are now having fun trying to get her to take it off.

It was then time to head back to the van to catch up on the little things. I ended up changing the last two tubes on my bike (Phew, as now all the bikes have been repaired), fixed the external bin bracket that was torn off the other day by a very 'heavy handed' child, and updated the fishing tackle box from our shop the other day; while Bec cleaned the van, pre-cooked dinner and a meal or two for when we head off camping early next week, updated her blog from yesterday, and helped the kids with craft.

Afterwards, Bec disappeared with Scarlett down to the pool here at the caravan park. The weather has been sitting in the mid to high 20's, and the sunshine has been absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately the water was again very cold, so Scarlett didn't stay in the water for very long.

We were going to go to the open air theatre tonight, but couldn't find out if Scarlett was allowed in or not, the only thing showing was the latest 'Pirates of the Caribbean' movie. Instead we ended up having drinks over at Jace and Jo's caravan with Peter and Annie. All the kids piled into their caravan and watched a movie, while we adults played 'Jenga'.

It was really nice to not do a lot today. We achieved a few things we wanted to get done, but I think it was more rewarding to just take time out and catch up with what needed to be done.
