Day 132. 80 Mile Beach

She saw sea shells by the sea shore… and collected every bloody one of them!

Cleaning and sorting through seashells
I was up bright and early and trying to force feed Shane and Scarlett breakfast so I could bundle them into the car and take off looking for shells again. This is my last morning here where I’lll be able to grab some more shells, so I was keen as to get back out there ASAP.

We drove up the beach away from the couple of other die-hards already out there, and walked the tide line. There were a couple of nice ones but nothing to write home about so we moved on another kilometre or so where we had more luck. Within the hour we all had full buckets and were over the wind, so we headed back.

Shane got straight to work cleaning and organising the haul as we had heaps to do as we didn’t wash any of yesterday’s shells. The poor guy was out there for hours; while I cooked lunch, had a shower and cleaned up the van. We now have millions of them, and I can’t wait to do something with them as they are all so beautiful.

It was a quiet day so I took advantage and read and took it easy. The kids tied each other up and tried to winch each other up the tree next door. It was hilarious watching them; they even had their bike helmets on so at least it was safety first!

This evening there is a free country music singer in the park, and we are all going to go and watch him over a BBQ. We should have a great time as the wind has dropped off and the temperature is ideal for being outside. Tomorrow we move on to ‘Barn Hill Station’. We have saved some bait as the fishing is meant to be insane there, I can’t wait.
