Day 170. Darwin

A new bike

It was a great morning, with not having to go anywhere for a change. Scarlett and I actually lay in bed and watched cartoons for the morning. We had a lovely breakfast of pancakes, which Scarlett and Shane thoroughly enjoyed. Other than a couple of loads of washing, we pretty much had up to lunchtime to just hang out. Scarlett spent much of her morning at the jumping pillow; it is a huge kids hangout.

After lunch we decided to head to Casaurina mall to see the movie 'Kung Fu Panda II'; well Shane and Scarlett did anyway, while I took to opportunity to prouse the shops on my own for a change. I spotted the coolest kids bike on sale for $58 at K-Mart, and knew it would be perfect for Scarlett. Her little bike is starting to look like a clown prop, as she is getting so big for it. And to think it was perfect size for her only 7 months ago!

I sent a text to Shane asking what he thought about getting it, and he agreed. Scarlett has been so well behaved lately. Her bike is so small for her, and trashed from spending 6 months on the back of the van. This one was just the right price and size, and I knew she would love it. Shane met me at the shop and we showed her, she was stoked.

When we got back to the park, we didn't even make it back to the caravan and Scarlett had jumped out and was running over to the jumping pillow to hang out with her friends. We went back and put the bike together (well poor Shane did), brought in the washing and cooked taco's for dinner. Nana, Grumpy, Adam and Courtney skyped just at the right time this evening, I took the computer outside and they were able to watch Scarlett ride her new bike for the first time. The joy of technology, they don't miss much.

It was so hot after dinner, so we went down to the pool where Scarlett swam with all the kids to well after 8pm. The pool here is open till 9:30pm because of the heat. Shane and I kicked back on the deck chairs reading, and enjoying the cooler outside air. The kid's activities all start tomorrow, so we will be hanging around the camp again, Scarlett is so excited.
